So the date has been set and preparations are underway for my first performance in Halifax, Nova Scotia since the late 80s!
Here are the details:
The Bim Prongs (W.A.Davison solo)
at Cabaret Voltaire - Atlantique
1873 Granville St, Halifax, Nova Scotia
Monday, June 27, 7 - 8:30pm
"Multidisciplinary artist/musician and NSCAD alumnus W.A.Davison founded Recordism, an artistic ideology based on chance and automatism and inspired by Dada and Surrealism, in Truro, N.S, 1984. Since then, Davison and his partner S.Higgins have spread the good word of Recordism through visual art, poetic texts, films and videos, live art and music performances, underground networking, and collective actions and games in their adopted home of Toronto and in numerous cities around the world. On June 27th, Davison returns to Halifax to present a one-night-only performance by his latest experimental audio/performance art project The Bim Prongs. Though much of this performance will be improvised in response to the venue itself and audience interactions, we can expect a collage of sounds created with primitive electronics, objects found on site, dictaphone field-recordings from Halifax, pre-recorded material, primitive vinyl record playback/manipulation, performative actions, and poetic texts developed during the performance via chance processes and audience involvement (game strategies)."
